On Wednesday, October 18, the SGA held a bake sale for our friends at Ripe Revival. The original idea for this fundraiser was to have a friendly competition with our rival, Faith Christian School. Unfortunately, they had to drop out of the competition a few days before because they were too busy. But here at RMA, students raised a good bit of money for Ripe Revival, and representatives from the organization came to the school that same Friday to collect the money we raised.
Let’s talk about Ripe Revival and its mission. Ripe Revival is based out of Rocky Mount and is a non-profit organization that takes food to areas that don’t have access to a lot of healthy food options. The founder and CEO of Ripe Revival is RMA graduate Will Kornegay (you can read an “Alumni Update” about Mr. Kornegay previously published in The Examiner here), who says, “We envision a world free from brokenness – where farms thrive, businesses flourish and neighbors unite as a community.”
There’s a lot more on their website, where you can find information on their products, where the food is sourced from, who their team members are, and more. Although Ripe Revival focuses on getting healthy food to those who cannot always afford it, you are also welcome to purchase products from them. Once you sign up, you get a box of food every so often with the foods of your choice, which can include fruits and veggies, frozen foods, or things like locally-produced meat.
Thank you to everyone who supported the SGA by purchasing goodies from the bake sale, and thank you to the Upper School SGA for sponsoring this fundraiser!
