Our last group of Senior Spotlights for this year includes Hannah Perdue, who arrived at RMA her sophomore year and immediately embraced every opportunity to get involved, particularly with the school’s Exceptional Children’s program and athletics. Kind and inclusive, Hannah has become a valuable member of the Class of 2026.

In the classroom, Hannah has consistently pushed herself. Her senior schedule includes French II Honors, Pre-Calculus Honors, English 12 Advanced, and AP Biology. Bio isn’t her first or only AP course since, as a junior, she took AP Environmental Science with Dr. Wells. With her interest in science–plus the fact that Dr. Wells is one of her favorite teachers!–this course was her favorite during her time at RMA. As she should, Hannah takes pride in her academic achievements and growth, which has earned her honors such as the Exceptional Progress Award in French I and the Highest Academic Average in Advanced Functions and Models as a junior. 

Athletics have played a major role in Hannah’s high school experience–she’s a tri-sport athlete!–and her many accomplishments and awards speak for themselves. As a sophomore new to RMA, Hannah made an immediate impact, competing on the varsity volleyball team as a libero (a specialized back-row defender). If you happened to be watching one of her games during her sophomore and junior years, you would have been sure to

spot her, since, as the libero, Hannah wore a different-colored uniform from her teammates. That year and the next, searned All-Conference honors for her contributions to the volleyball team and even added All-Tournament recognition as a junior. As a senior, Hannah continued to participate in varsity volleyball as an outside hitter/DS (defensive specialist), where she won All-Conference yet again.

Every winter, when the volleyball net comes down and the basketball hoops go up, Hannah returns to the gym. As a sophomore, she played JV and varsity basketball, laying the groundwork for her contributions to the state championship-winning varsity basketball team as a guard in 2024-2025. She also played for the varsity basketball team this past winter, where the girls were runners-up in the state tournament.

Right now, Hannah is finishing out her final RMA sports season as a member of the varsity girls soccer team, which she says has aspirations for a deep playoff run. As a sophomore, she played striker and earned All-Conference; last year, she received All-State Honorable Mention, the Coach’s Award, and–along with her teammates–a state championship ring! Wanting even more time on the field, Hannah spends lots of her free time playing club soccer and traveling with the Neuse Football River Alliance (NFRA). She says that traveling to Charleston to play soccer was one of her favroite memories because of the fun times she had with her teammates.

Outside of academics and athletics, Hannah has been actively involved in several clubs: the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club, and Stronger Together. Through these organizations, she has built meaningful relationships with classmates, members of the Exceptional Children’s Program, and the community, as well as contributed to creating a more cohesive and supportive school environment. 

Hannah has committed to North Carolina State University and plans to major in Poultry Science as she works toward a career in farm management. She is ready for Wolfpack gamedays and is excited to start a new life in Raleigh, but Hannah says she is going to miss a lot about RMA–especially her work with the Exceptional Children’s Program through her role as an EC intern and member of Stronger Together. Most of all, she says she will miss playing Eagle sports (especially against Faith Christian) and seeing some of her closest friends every day. We will miss her, too, but wish Hannah the best as she starts this new chapter!

My mom and dad because of their hard work to support me and my little brother (Kaden, who also attends RMA)

If you could be any teacher for the day, who would it be?

Mrs. Bryant, so I could be in charge of all athletics!

What advice would you offer to new students?

To any new and upcoming students, she recommends that they join the Stronger Together Club, believing it to be a truly fulfilling opportunity.
