Starring in this Senior Spotlight is a member of the senior class who is no stranger to having the spotlight on her–Becky Hunter, who has been at Rocky Mount Academy since Kindergarten, making her a near-lifer!
Becky is someone who has a flair for the dramatic and a passion for the arts and theater. She’s also great at it and has been awarded Outstanding Performance in Drama. Most recently, Becky was the grandmother in The Addams Family, her seventh (!) and final RMA play. Out of all the school plays she has been in, her favorite was Matilda Jr., where she played the role of Matilda’s mother, Ms. Wormwood, which showed her that the funny roles suit her best!
Because we only have two musicals a year–one for Middle and one for Upper School–Becky fills the void by serving as president of the Drama Club, where they discuss all things acting, theater, movies, and more!
Becky is known for being creative and full of imagination, showcasing both qualities not just through acting but also as part of the Yearbook staff and as an art student. She has taken Art 1, 2, and 3, and is currently in ceramics at RMA, and has made some very impressive pieces, such as a picnic basket butter dish, a mixed media drawing of Cinderella’s glass slipper, and a self-portrait, testifying to Becky’s wide range of artistic abilities.

Becky not only brings the vibrant personality you’d expect of an actress and artist to the classroom, but also a willingness to learn, as shown through her membership in the National Honor Society and her service as a Junior Marshal last year. She challenged herself this year in the classroom by taking French 4 Honors, English 12 Honors, Trigonometry, AP Environmental Science, and Personal Finance. Becky’s positive, can-do attitude has earned her several academic awards, including Academic Excellence in Honors French I and II, Highest Academic Average in Geometry, Algebra II, and Modern European History, and Honors US History, as well as Straight A Honors in Grade Eleven.
Becky is also a member of the Key Club, one of our school’s service clubs, which raises money for Rocky Mount Academy events and other organizations. She has helped organize Rocky Mount Academy’s Daddy-Daughter Prom for the past few years, showing her willingness to give her time to others.
As if her tough schedule and participation in school clubs and drama aren’t enough, Becky also volunteers through off-campus organizations. Becky was involved in scouting from 1st grade through 11th grade, and though no longer a Scout, she has an expert knowledge of the Girl Scout cookies available each February! She has also volunteered for local charities through Debuettes since the 9th grade and will be recognized for her work and presented as a senior this weekend.
Continuing her love for the arts, next fall Becky will attend the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she will double major in Interior Design and Themed Entertainment Design. After graduation, she hopes to either pursue a career as an interior designer or work for Disney World designing attractions.
