For one of this week’s articles, you get the pleasure of learning more about one of RMA’s lifers: Frances Stone, who has been a part of the RMA family since Pre-K. She is a caring, independent, enthusiastic, and funny individual, and I can testify to the fact that there is never a dull moment with her around!
Frances is finishing high school by taking Marine Biology, English 12, Advanced Functions and Modules, AP Environmental Science, Ceramics, and EC Help (helping with RMA’s Exceptional Children’s Program). This year, her favorite class is English with Dr. O’Brien because “she is one of my favorite teachers, and I love her teaching style.”

Given her appreciation for Dr. O’Brien, it’s no surprise she took home an award for Academic Excellence in English Eleven. Frances has won other academic awards too, including Highest Academic Average in US History (eleventh grade), and Outstanding Achievement in Spanish I (ninth grade).
Outside of academics, Frances is active in RMA’s Upper School Stronger Together Club, which goes right along with her taking EC Help as one of her classes this year. She enjoys spending time with the EC kids because “they can turn a bad day into a good day with their vibrant personalities.”
Frances played mid-field on the soccer team her freshman year of high school; however, most of her free time now is taken up by hanging out with her friends–she’s definitely a “people person”!
As for college, Frances has applied to NC State, East Carolina, Meredith, and UNCW and received acceptances from three of these! Ultimately, she has decided to attend ECU starting in the fall. As the kind-hearted Frances we all know, she plans to major in nursing because she has a deep desire to help others.
