Anna Claire Thompson, Social Media Chair

As the leaves start to change and the weather cools down, fall favorites come back into season. The Media Office has come up with a list of 10 fall trends that are favorites. The list below is gathered in no specific order.

  1. Bonfires: Bonfires are one of the most anticipated events as the weather starts to cool down. When I think of fall bonfires, friends and flannels are what come to mind. Everyone gathers around the fire at a friend’s farm to make s’mores and memories together that will last a lifetime.
  2. Pumpkin flavor: Everyone knows fall is around the corner once they start seeing advertisements from Starbucks that pumpkin flavored treats and beverages are back. Going to get a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks, or in Rocky Mount’s case a pumpkin iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts, is a favorite of girls across the country.
  3. Riding boots:  Riding boots are a fall staple. Chances are you’ll see a girl walking around with leggings, a t-shirt, and riding boots. Whether worn with a t-shirt or a dress, riding boots are part of most girls’ everyday wardrobe.
  4. The State Fair: Once October rolls around everyone knows the State Fair is around the corner. Infamous for its fried food and crowded atmosphere, the fair is a great way to spend a Saturday during the fall. Whether you go for the food, the rides, or the people watching,  the State Fair is a family favorite.
  5. Scarves: Scarves are another essential to a girl’s wardrobe once the weather becomes cooler. Scarves, like riding boots, can be paired with a t-shirt and leggings or a comfortable outfit. Whether worn to keep warm or to add a statement to an outfit, scarves are a great way to accessorize during the colder months.
  6. Apple cider: A favorite beverage of autumn, apple cider is a great way to keep warm during the brisk fall months. Whether its store bought or homemade, apple cider is a family favorite. My personal favorite apple cider is from the State Fair from Pitzer Heritage Circle.
  7. Barbour: Barbour is a fall favorite for boys and girls. While walking down the halls of RMA, it is very common to see someone wearing the classic green jacket as winter weather approaches.
  8. Football: Football is a classic fall pastime for players and fans alike. Coming to RMA on a Friday night and watching the varsity boys’ football team while socializing with friends is a favorite weekend activity amongst students. College football is another favorite. Whether you pull for the Pirates, the Tar Heels, or the Wolfpack, going out to the games on Saturdays is always a fun time.
  9. Patagonia: Another favorite for boys and girls, Patagonia is a fall staple for RMA students. As the weather cools down, vests become a common wardrobe choice amongst students. As the temperature continues to drop, students stay warm with Patagonia’s wide variety of pullovers. Patagonia and Barbour are RMA staples for the cool fall and winter months.
  10. Candy corn: Candy corn is a classic Halloween treat. The white, orange, and yellow candy that mimics corn kernels can be seen everywhere during the month of October.  The sugary candy is a favorite for many around Halloween.
