Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner, now is a great time to reflect on the Thanksgiving traditions that make it such a special and memorable holiday.

When people look forward to Thanksgiving, one of their most prominent thoughts is definitely the food. There are many foods that are always seen on Thanksgiving, such as cranberry sauce, stuffing, and Mac and Cheese, but by far the most iconic Thanksgiving food is definitely the turkey. Families all over the United States seem to share this tradition. The most common way of cooking it is definitely roasting it, but there are many ways to go about it. So this Thanksgiving, be sure to enjoy all of the food that has been prepared!

Another Thanksgiving tradition is the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. This parade started in 1924, making it one of the longest running Thanksgiving Day traditions. This parade has been aired on television since 1953 and lasts three hours, 9 am to 12 pm. It goes along a 2.5 mile loop that takes it all around the city of Manhattan. This parade is filled with intricate floats, bands, and huge balloons that make it so fun to watch that every year, thousands of people line the route to watch it go by and even more view it on their TV. This tradition has been around for years and let’s hope it continues to stay around for many more!

Many people travel over Thanksgiving, either on vacation or to see family who live far away. This is a tradition that means so much to so many people, because it is an opportunity to visit family and friends that they do not normally get to see. It is also a great excuse to have a family get together even if you live in the same town as them.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what and who you’re thankful for. This is a special holiday so no matter how you celebrate, have a wonderful and safe holiday this year!
