Dancing with the Stars is back! Tyra Banks, the new host, welcomed everyone back to the ballroom and introduced the three judges: Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough! Due to COVID, Len Goodman is stuck in London, but he is going to make many virtual appearances throughout the season. Each celebrity made their DWTS debut along with their pro-dancer partner, and viewers got to see their first reactions and rehearsals. There were definitely some stand out performances and some with a lot of room for improvement! Wondering who the celebrities are, who their pro partners are, and what scores they received? AJ McLean-

Backstreet Boy alum AJ McLean kicked off the premiere with his partner, Cheryl Burke, with the first dance of the night: an energetic jive to “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd.

Chrishell Stause-

“Selling Sunset” star Chrishell Stause and her partner Gleb Savchenko were up next with a tango to “Raise Your Glass” by P!nk that the judges thought had a lot of room to improve.

Vernon Davis- 

Vernon Davis, retired football tight end, and his pro dancer partner Peta Murgatroyd made their ballroom debut with a smooth and passionate foxtrot to John Legend’s  “All of Me” that impressed the judges.

Anne Heche-

Actress Anne Heche was sure she got the best partner with Keo Motsepe, and it’s hard to argue with the results of their fun and flirty cha cha to Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now.”

Jeannie Mai-

Host Jeannie Mai wanted to come out of the gate strong, so she made sure her pro dance partner Brandon Armstrong took her straight to the acrobatics for their season premiere salsa to “Tell It to My Heart” by Taylor Dayne.

Jesse Metcalfe-

The quickstep is a notoriously tricky dance, so actor Jesse Metcalfe and his partner, Sharna Burgess, had a tough debut. They performed their dance to “Part Time Love” by Stevie Wonder, and received some good scores.

Skai Jackson-

It’s hard to do better with a partner than a reigning champion, so actress Skai Jackson had to be happy to be paired with Alan Bersten. The pair did a tango to Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass.”

Kaitlyn Bristowe-

Former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe has a new man in life: pro dancer partner Artem Chigvintsev. The two put together a sultry cha cha to Lady Gaga’s “Stupid Love” that put them near the top of the Week 1 scoreboard.

Nev Schulman-

“Catfish” host Nev Schulman was a perfect gentleman, bringing flowers to his new pro dance partner Jenna Johnson on their first day of rehearsals. The pair brought that same timeless elegance to their opening night foxtrot to “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra, and the judges were impressed!

Johnny Weir-

Figure skater Johnny Weir was ready to glam up the ballroom with his partner, new pro Britt Stewart, and glam they did. The judges had some notes to the pair’s cha cha to “Buttons” by The Pussycat Dolls, but they were eager to see the pair’s potential develop.

Justina Machado-

Actress Justina Machado brought some serious energy to her rehearsals with pro partner Sasha Farber, but when the two hit the ballroom, it was on a new level. Their season premiere cha cha to Aretha Franklin’s “Respect” got everyone off their feet!

Charles Oakley-

Basketball star Charles Oakley was an enforcer on the court, but wanted to bring some finesse to the ballroom with pro partner Emma Slater. While some of the technique needs some work, their salsa to 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” definitely left the judges excited to see him throughout the season.

Navarro cheer coach Monica Aldama had to switch gears from coach to performer as she partnered with Val Chmerkovskiy for a lovely night one foxtrot to “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts.

Nelly-

Rapper Nelly got quite a surprise when his pro partner Daniella Karagach told him they were going to dance the salsa to his song “Ride Wit Me.” Their week one dance was fun and energetic, but the two are going to have some more surprises for the judges this season.

Carole Baskin-

Closing out the night, animal activist and star of the Netflix show “Tiger King” Carole Baskin and her partner, Pasha Pashkov, performed a WILD paso doble to Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger.”
