I am going to start this Senior Spotlight with a great memory of my friend Austin Brown. For my past birthday my friends brought me coffee and candy to school being great people per usual, but Austin got me the best gift of all because he said he got me “what I needed most”! So what was that gift you may ask? Paper and pens, because I really needed some. And that is Austin in a nutshell; he gives people what they need most. Whether it is paper and pens, a smile, or a friend, Austin is a little light in this world, and everyone who knows him is beyond grateful for his existence.

Since the beginning of his RMA career in Third Grade, Austin has been a wonderful aspect of our Class of 2019. He is always supporting any of the Eagles at sporting events, everything from football to volleyball. His love of his school and classmates is something about Austin that makes him so special to the school. This year Austin will be playing Varsity Tennis, so be sure to keep an eye out on the court for him! As far as clubs go, he is an active member in a few with leadership roles in hand. As Secretary of Key Club and a valiant member of CARE Club, Austin is giving of himself to his community and to his school with kindness and selflessness. Austin’s big heart is not the only admirable part about him, but his intelligence is highlighted by his rigorous coursework throughout his high school career, stocked high with Honors and AP courses. For his last year at RMA, needless to say he has challenged himself by taking AP Stats, AP Economics, AP English, AP Environmental Science, AP Psychology while also being involved with Yearbook for the 2018-2019 year. Austin has excelled in the classrooms here, and he will most definitely excel in whatever college he chooses to attend. He is applying to UNCW, NC State, UNC, and was just accepted to ECU!

Austin Brown will be a face many students and faculty will miss after this coming May. His love of his school and passion to help others cannot be compared to any other, and will surely be missed. RMA wishes you the best of luck in the future, we all know you will be doing great things!

Find out more about Austin below:
1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Either Charleston, SC or Paris, France because I enjoy the history and architecture found in both places.

  1. What is your favorite RMA memory?

This is a challenging question. I would have to say either going on field trips, such as to Charleston and Orlando, or a summer trip to Emerald Isle with a bunch of my friends.

  1. What is your go-to long lunch destination?

Most definitely Honey Baked Hams

  1. What are your top 3 favorite shows on Netflix?

Scandal, Criminal Minds, and The Office

  1. What is a little known fact about you?

Something that is probably not well known is that my favorite thing to do is to travel. I love going to see different places and seeing the history of that city and the beautiful scenery of different locations.

  1. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I might could see myself working somewhere in the finance industry. However, 10 years is a long time, so anything could happen.

  1. What is your favorite class you’ve taken in RMA?

Either Precalculus with Ms. Carter or Chemistry with Dr. Wells

  1. What is one accomplishment you are most proud of?

An accomplishment would have to be passing AP US History because AP European History was rough times. Another accomplishment would be getting into college.

  1. What will you miss the most about RMA? How about the least?

I will miss being able to see my friends every day, and I will not miss Mr. Stone’s powerpoints.

  1. Who is your role model? Why?

My role model is my grandad because he did not have a college education, but he worked hard, and now he is successful. He inspires me to have perseverance, work ethic, and also to never give up.
