Haven Ross, Social Media Chair

Some people have a hard time telling the Boyette twins apart, searching for the freckle on Thomas’s left ear when told to request something of one of them. I believe that over the years, it has become very easy to tell who is who through their equally amazing but different personalities. This week, the senior spotlight focuses on Mercer!

Mercer has graced RMA with his presence since ninth grade, and oh, how lucky we are that he did! His confident personality makes him quite the comedian at all the right times, providing laughs and smiles among the senior class. Mercer’s humor does not get in the way of his academic performance; he takes on a rigorous course load each year, taking AP and honors courses. He landed a spot in National Honors Society and served as an academic marshall at graduation! Mercer gives his all in every class and is always willing to start a conversation about study groups and due dates. His commitment to excellence does not stop when the school day ends. The talented athlete played soccer in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades, earning the Offensive Player of the Year award last year and making the All-Area Team. Mercer also is a new kicker for the football team and a seeded player on the varsity tennis team.

Outside of school, Mercer keeps up the hard work! He has worked at a yacht cleaning service, a Young Life Camp, and recently attended a Wake Forest Summer Immersion Program for Sports Management! When he isn’t working hard, Mercer can be found hanging out with his friends in Wilson, and he probably is drinking a sweet tea or Dr. Pepper. Mercer is applying to UNC, NC State, USC, UNCW, and Appalachian State. No matter where Mercer goes, he is sure to make amazing friends and succeed at whatever he puts his mind to.
