This week’s senior spotlight features the newest addition to the senior class, Parker Ferebee. Unfortunately, this is Parker’s first and last year at Rocky Mount Academy, but in her short time here she has definitely impacted the school and her classmates in such a positive way. Everyone knows Parker by her ever present smile, giggly laugh, and great sense of humor. She greets everyone she encounters with a welcoming attitude and never fails to make you laugh or feel important. She is a true joy to be around and her presence has brightened the senior class and RMA as a whole.

Athletically, Parker excels in several sports. She has played volleyball, softball, and been a member of the shooting team throughout high school. In volleyball, she was awarded the Coaches’ award her junior year and was a huge asset to helping her team get to the State Championship last year. In softball, Parker received Most Improved her 10th grade year, was a member of the State Championship team her junior year, and is currently our star center fielder. Parker is also a force to reckon with while holding a gun in her hand, as she was the female runner up in the state shooting tournament. Anyone who knows Parker, hears about all her hunting stories, or sees her pictures with her game, is not surprised by this at all.

Academically, Parker is still a standout. She has maintained a rigorous high school schedule, challenging herself and producing impressive results. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has collectively earned $136,000 of merit – based scholarships from the colleges she has applied to this year. Parker’s achievements don’t stop here, she has also spent time serving and giving back to her community. She has been an active member of the Key Club all throughout high school and has spent many hours volunteering at a preschool in Greenville. Parker was also a member of the Student Ambassador Committee at Oakwood, her previous high school, serving as a mentor to new and prospective students. It’s easy to see how great of an addition Parker has been to our class and how lucky we are that she joined us this year!
