Thomas Moore, Business Manager

Walking into Downtown Rocky Mount’s newest restaurant, Twitch, feels as if you are walking into a 1920’s Raleigh speakeasy. The warm wooden floors make for a hospitable welcome. The charming staff greets you with a friendly “Hello, welcome to Twitch!” One will surely be eager to try some of the delicious looking food, but not before a tour of upstairs. As the bar manager flicks on some lights, customers walk into the main hall impressed by the attention to detail of the stairs and hallway which maintains the vintage atmosphere of the entire restaurant. As you walk upstairs, your attention is drawn to both lounging areas which are connected by a hallway, have large TV’s, and showcase elegant furnishings. These spaces can be rented alone or together for events and parties. Recently, it had been occupied for a large super bowl party. As you walk back downstairs, it is impossible for your mouth not to water as you think of the wonderful entrées to choose from.

As for my personal experience, I started off the meal with a refreshingly cold sweet tea. For the appetizer, we had the chips and buffalo dip. The buffalo dip was spicy and flavorful, and the chips were crisp and savory. The main course arrived shortly after we had finished our appetizer, and not a moment too soon. I had ordered the chicken served with mac and cheese and the mixed root vegetables. The chicken was baked to a crisp with a side of sauce. The sauce was savory and smoky. I really enjoyed the chicken and, as an added bonus, there was a large helping size. The mac and cheese was outstanding. It was appropriately cheesy and had great flavor. The root vegetables were also very tasty. I was surprised to how delicious they were because I am not a fan of vegetables. They were cooked to perfection and had a bit of sweetness. Overall, the meal itself was very good.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Twitch, which is located in the downtown area. The atmosphere was great and had a casual, but not too casual ambiance. The service was also quite good. Our waitress had good recommendations and was very personable. The food was also out to our table in a short amount of time, which was very convenient. Our meal totaled to a surprisingly low amount for such quality food. I know that I will be back for lunch because I have also heard great things about the lunch menu. If you are looking for a good meal with a fantastic atmosphere, and do not want to have to pay an arm and a leg, head over to Twitch! You will not be disappointed.
