Eagles Dominate in First Conference Game of the Season

This past Friday, December 4th, the long awaited Friday home basketball games returned to RMA’s gym. For fans out there, they can instantly bet on sites such as 먹튀폴리스. After a great (and chilly) football season, it was fair to say that RMA fans and players alike were ready to get back into the gym. The Boys Varsity and Girls Varsity played their first conference game of the year against The Epiphany School in New Bern and came out on top.

The girls set the tone for Varsity play that night with a strong first season win. Powerhouse duo, Senior Katie Gutshall and Junior Julia High, assisted each other with offensive plays that resulted in lots of points. The team played its best game of the year.  It seemed as though it was all coming together for the girls after a slow start to the season and a tough loss to Cary Christian earlier that week. Jami Perkins got multiple defensive rebounds under the basket and was able to make the outlet pass to get the ball out of Epiphany territory. However, the most memorable play was Elizabeth Ann Gibson’s basket in the 4th quarter. The Eagles pulled away from Epiphany with a deficit of 30 points. With this confidence-boosting win under the Lady Eagles’ belt, we hope that they can get a few more W’s on their record to be a force in conference play.

The boys’ team had to deliver a thrilling win after following the girls’ blowout. The boys showed that they were up to the challenge by setting the tone for the night with sophomore Elijah McCadden’s dunk on the first possession. The Eagles just could not be stopped.  They put up 20 points within the first few minutes (more than Epiphany would score the entire game). Junior A.J. Mitchell had several quick-thinking assists for many break-away points. While the Eagles’ offense was the best it had been all season, their defense deserves some recognition as well. Senior Kyle Holland had multiple rebounds to prevent second attempt shots. The most exciting play of the game came in the fourth quarter with an alley-oop pass from Senior Brendan Acker to Elijah McCadden for a very thrilling finish to a great game for the Eagles. This win along, with an out of conference victory over Cary Christian on Tuesday, is helping the Eagle’s case for a state tournament bid after regular season play.

We are expecting big things from the Eagles this year. Come out to the next home game on Tuesday, December 8th as we take on Grace Christian from Raleigh in hopes of building a strong out of conference résumé.
