Key Club Ice Cream Sale Success

Julia High, Marketing Chair

Last Friday, October 23rd, our RMA Key Club hosted their 2nd annual ice cream sale. This event took place in the court yard all school day long, allowing everyone to stop by when it was most convenient for them. Key Club members donated all the plentiful toppings and took shifts working the sale. Smith’s Red and White and Piggly Wiggly both donated all the ice cream, and, therefore, Key Club had no dues to repay after the sale. The cost was $2 per scoop of ice cream with your choice of unlimited toppings. Along with the profit of the ice cream, Key Club was also fortunate enough to have many sponsors including: Almands Drug Store, Streel Technology, Alston Orthodontics, Ms. Covolo, Davenport Autopark, Lee Gay Builder Inc., Southern Credit Adjusters, and the Fryar family.

The best part about the event is the amazing cause all the profit goes towards: the Holly Project. Both the Rocky Mount Telegram and Whig TV were on campus during the day to cover the event. The Telegram took pictures and interviewed Key Club president, Olivia Turnage, and members of the Fryar family for their article. Whig TV also talked to some of the important people who made the event run smoothly and took videos of the event. This was definitely one of Key Club’s most successful events, raising a total of $1,348. To some up the event, Key Club President Olivia Turnage said, “I’m so glad that Key Club has rallied Rocky Mount Academy students and local Rocky Mount businesses to honor a girl that we all knew and loved”. Key Club is a great organization that brings much of the RMA family together to support worthy causes near and far. Make sure to catch Whig TV’s coverage of this fantastic event on Sunday, November 1st.
