Coming from Cramerton Middle School in Gastonia, NC (outside of Charlotte), Cassidy Feamster joined Rocky Mount Academy her freshman year and, throughout her time here, has left an impact on both teachers and friends with her hard work, kindness, and charisma.

Cassidy’s dedication to her studies is shown in her rigorous schedule this year. Her core classes consist of Honors Spanish IV, AP Calculus, AP English, AP Environmental Science, and AP Psychology. Not only does her schedule demonstrate her willingness to challenge herself, but her grades also attest to her abilities and work ethic. She has been recognized with numerous end-of-year awards: Most Improved in Honors English 9, Academic Excellence in Honors Biology I, Academic Excellence in Spanish I, and “A” Honor Roll in 9th and 10th grades. To add to this impressive list, Cassidy served as Academic Marshal and also earned the title of AP Scholar with Distinction (meaning that she has received an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on 5 or more of these exams) as a junior.
By participating in numerous clubs, including the Student Government Association, Cassidy is deeply involved in school and community life. Some of these RMA clubs are academic–such as the National Honor Society and Beta Club–while others are service-oriented. Through the Key Club, Cassidy is able to support numerous causes (the Lineberger Cancer Center, the Down East Partnership for Children, Animal Crackers, and My Sister’s House) and improve the student experience by providing additional supplies for the Art and PE Departments, as well as the STEAM Lab. Through Stronger Together, Cassidy partners with exceptional students who need encouragement, help, or just company during a fun event like the EC Prom or Special Olympics. Outside of RMA, Cassidy is a member of the Debuettes Club, which is an organization for young women in grades 9–12 in the Rocky Mount, NC area that focuses on community service and leadership. Members volunteer for a variety of local organizations, such as the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross.

When Cassidy isn’t in the classroom, she’s on the sidelines of the football field or at the front of the gym’s student section, cheering and encouraging her classmates with a friendly smile. Cassidy has been cheerleading since she was a freshman and has been recognized for her contributions each and every year. In 9th and 10th grades, she was named Most Valuable Player, and she earned the Coach’s Award in 11th grade. Probably the most important honor she has earned as a cheerleader is being named team captain as a sophomore.
Aside from academics, extracurricular activities, and sports, Cassidy enjoys her time in the sun! Each summer, she takes a weeklong trip to Kure Beach with her family and also works at Benvenue Country Club and Westridge Swim Club as a lifeguard. It seems that wherever she is, Cassidy is looking out for others!
As someone who is generous with her time and likes to help, it’s no surprise that Cassidy plans to major in psychology and go into a career in optometry. (For our younger readers who might not know, this means being an eye doctor.) To do so, she’s planning to attend UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-Wilmington, NC State, or East Carolina University–all great choices that will let her be more independent while not being too far from home.
We know that Cassidy’s dedication to school, concern for others, and awesome personality will guide her to success in her academic career and beyond, and RMA is proud to have played a role in making her future so bright!
