Trevor and good friend, Meg Deyton, after this year’s upperclassmen powder-puff victory

This week’s Senior Spotlight focuses on Trevor Graham who is a “lifer”, meaning he has been attending RMA since pre-K.  Trevor shows all the characteristics that our school endorses: academics, character, and community, making him an essential part of the 2015 senior class.

Trevor is enrolled in several AP and honor classes and is a strong student. He has been involved in many extracurricular activities throughout his years at RMA as well. He has participated in football (9-12), baseball (9), swimming (11-12), Eagles fire shooting (9-12), and music performance (11-12). However, football is his main focus as he has played all four years. In his junior year, Trevor was awarded with a position on the All Conference First Defensive Team, a position awarded to the best defensive players by conference coaches. He was also recognized with honorable mention by the Rocky Mount Telegram for the all-area team, which included public schools.

Although sports are an important part of Trevor’s high school career, he has also made time to get a part time job to learn the importance of time management and responsibility. Trevor has worked at Chick-fil-A since the summer of 10th grade. He works 16-40 hours a week during the summer, depending on his football workouts, and six hours during the school year to allow time for sports and studies.

Community service is another important part of Trevor’s life. He has been involved in Boy Scout’s since 9th grade and has worked on a Gatekeeper crew since his freshman year during the summer. Through Trevor’s work with Gatekeepers, including painting, dry wall hanging, and plumbing, he has learned the importance of teamwork. Trevor was awarded for his hard work in Boy Scout’s last year when he achieved the honor of Eagle Scout.

Trevor plans to apply to The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Elon University, North Carolina State University, Appalachian State University, and East Carolina University. Trevor is also applying for an Eagle Scout scholarship and a scholarship through Chick-fil-A. All and all, Trevor’s academic and extracurricular achievements make him a vital part of this year’s senior class.
