Five Stars for Into the Storm
Into the Storm (rated PG-13), directed by Steven Quale, is an action packed thriller about a series of unparalleled storms that hit the small town of Silverton, Oklahoma over the course of a twenty-four hour period. Movie goers watch these deadly tornadoes through the eyes of amateur storm chasers, Pete and Allison, played by Matt Walsh and Sarah Wayne Callies. Follow the characters as they fight to get into the eye of a tornado for footage for a homemade documentary. As it soon becomes obvious that this system of storms is not normal, the tornadoes continue to regenerate, each one become larger.
As they race to accomplish this unprecedented task of getting to the center of a deadly cyclone, they find themselves being held responsible for the safety of the citizens of Silverton because of their abundant knowledge of storms. Pete and Allison push to warn and shelter local high school students, as their school is in the direct line of the tornado. Allison and Pete take the Silverton High vice principal under their wing as they search for his missing son after the high school is hit. As the group searches for the missing boy, they find themselves in nonstop danger of several E-5 tornadoes, each more threatening than the last. They must juggle their own safety as well as others’ all while pursuing the perfect shot of a tornado from the inside. As the day unravels priorities become apparent and sacrifices are made.
