Top 8 Signs of Spring at RMA
Spring is always an action packed, fun filled time at RMA. The following are Media Office’s 8 signs you know spring has sprung on campus!
1.A crowded courtyard – It is rare to walk out into the courtyard on a sunny day at RMA without seeing benches and tables occupied with working (or napping) students enjoyed the sun. Independent study is that much sweeter in the springtime being able to get out of the classroom and getting work done outside makes the day 10x better.
2. Spring sports – Warm weather outside happily takes athletics out of the gym or the pool to fields and courts all around campus. Walking around campus on the day of home games in shorts and sunglasses to watch baseball, tennis, softball, track, and soccer is always a pure delight.
3. Senioritis – As it gets closer and closer to graduation, college acceptances are still rolling in and many of us seniors have already decided where will spend our next four years. Looking towards next year, signing up for college orientations, getting our new computers, and thinking about all things college is making it very difficult to focus on these last 6 weeks of high school classes (yes we are counting). Seniors rolling up late to school and thinking it’s not really all that necessary to do that homework or study for that test is a definite sign of spring and the end of the school year.
4. Nike shorts and T- Shirts – Not only are students starting to lose motivation in school work, but waking up early to put on the perfect outfit is also too much work for students during this time of year. On any given spring day, it is a guarantee to see girls walking around in Nike shorts and t- shirts. This iconic outfit is a goto for everyone and a clear indication that spring has arrived.
5. Classes outside – With the warmer weather arriving, having class outside is a tempting thought for both students and teachers. Students are never shy to literally beg teachers for class in the courtyard and sometimes it even works! Seeing classes take place outside is a definite sign of spring at RMA.
6. Exam Stress – All the positives of spring and many highly anticipated functions (prom, senior prank day, graduation services) it is also a season of high stress levels for many students. With the school year coming to a close, the time to study for exams and try to memorize the entire AP crash course book (@ all Mr. Stone’s students) is quickly becoming less and less. As difficult as it is to stay inside during this perfect weather, it’s not rare to see students in the library or in class diligently preparing for end of the year exams.
7. Pollen – Another negative thing that comes along with spring is pollen. If you’re outside for more than 10 minutes it’s inevitable to notice the pollen EVERYWHERE. If it’s on computer screens, in the courtyard, or on the cars in the parking lot, pollen has a way of being everywhere and is another way you know it’s spring at RMA.
8. Promposals – Prom is just around the corner meaning people are working hard to think of the most creative way to “prompose” to their dates. When big posters, food, and different things with prom written all over them are appearing around campus, you know that it is officially spring.
