Top 10 Netflix Couples
In honor of Valentine’s Day approaching, Media Office would like to remember and recognize the top ten TV couples on Netflix. We can all admit that we live vicariously through these character’s relationships, whether your love life is non- existent or you’re happily married.
-
- “Friends” Chandler and Monica: One of the newest TV series added to Netflix, “Friends” is such a classic. Viewers love the constant affection shown between Monica and Chandler. From the playful “just friends” flirtation to their engagement, viewers are rooting for them throughout the whole series. Because of its recent debut on Netflix, they are kept towards the high end of the list
9.“New Girl” Nick and Jess: While so very dysfunctional, when Nick and Jess got together it left viewers cheering. The couple began as friends and remained friends for a good portion of the series. But, where there is romantic tension there is a relationship waiting to happen. This was certainly the case in “New Girl”, as Nick and Jess did eventually get together. They have been kept relatively high on the list because of their unpredictable nature and instability, although all viewers know that they will end up together as the show progresses…..right?
8.“How I met your Mother” Marshal and Lilly: Together from the start, Marshal and Lilly are brought meaning to the phrase “love at first sight”. The hit TV series begins with their engagement after they graduate college, and their relationship is a major focal point of the show. While there were bumps in the road, everyone knew that Lilly and Marshal were made for each other as they begin to start a family and show everyone what a true match made in heaven is.
7.“Grey’s Anatomy” Meredith and Derek: The most stable of couples, Meredith and Derek are the voice of reason when things at the hospital get out of hand. They understand each other perfectly and the presence their marriage and life in Seattle can simply be put as every viewer’s “relationship goals”.
6.“Parks and Recreation” Andy and April: This fun loving couple reminds viewers what love is fun and carefree. These slightly irresponsible twenty-somethings teach everyone not to take life too seriously and they sure are adorable while doing it. While they did not begin the show as a couple, once they started dating they never turned back, and because of that they ranked pretty well compared to other couples on the list.
5.“The Walking Dead” Glenn and Maggie: This couple is far more different than anyone else on the list. While managing to stay alive and escape zombies, Glenn and Maggie found each other. They face life threatening situations every day, but would dodge a bullet (or zombie) for the other if need be. Viewers cheer them on, as they seem to be the only normal factor in the entire show.
4.“Friday Night Lights” Matt and Julie: While playing on the high school football team, second string quarterback, Matt, quickly develops feelings for his coach’s daughter, Julie. Their relationship was seemingly perfect until it was forced to go long distance when Julie’s father took another job coaching out of town. While the two tried to make things work, they decided to break it off towards the middle of the series. However, the two were so perfect for each other that they reconnected years after high school in Chicago where they eventually got engaged; something that viewers had been longing for throughout the series.
3.“House of Cards” Frank and Claire: These two are the epitome of a power couple. They look out and promote each other’s search for more authority in Washington all while being the perfect match for one another. In the opening scene of the Netflix original series Frank honestly states “I love that woman more than a shark loves blood” and he proves this to be true over and over again as they go to great lengths to support one another in all their political climbing efforts.
2.“Gossip Girl” Chuck and Blair: These New York City socialites are soulmates without a doubt. While not together for a good portion of the series, Chuck has always been infatuated with Blair and keeps a close eye on her throughout the show and protects her best interest even while not together. Once Blair realizes that her biggest fan is Chuck, they fall completely in love and make all of New York envy them. Their relationship is a huge aspect of the series and has all girls wishing that they could have a Chuck Bass in their life
1.”The Office” Jim and Pam: Of course it’s Jim and Pam. These two set the bar for couples everywhere. Jim waits for years while his soulmate is engaged to a terrible warehouse worker that is all wrong for her. Viewers painfully watch Jim play the waiting game, but he gets his big break eventually. “The Office” fans love Jim and Pam so much because of their tangible and normal relationship. We watch them transform from friends, into more than friends, into family. There is no one more perfect that Jim and Pam and everyone can identify with them.
Our Favorite Love Triangle- “Scandal” Olivia, Fitz, and Jake: Scandal has grown dramatically in popularity since its release on Netflix. Olivia seems to get herself in sticky situations when she can’t choose between the president of the United States, Fitz, or his friend Jake. Considering the high stakes and major consequences that come with the political limelight, Olivia has a difficult time figuring out her love life.
