As we move into the second half of trimester two, many people may be experiencing burnout and lack of motivation to complete their school work. The first step to preventing burnout is being able to recognize it before it truy begins. Many people feel a complete lack of motivation and self doubt in the earlier stages, so be sure to watch for these signs so you know when to take a break. In my opinion, this is the hardest six weeks of the entire year, so here are some tips to avoid burnout before it happens, you should check out comp sci summer programs for undergrads

Get An Adequate Amount of Sleep

One of the absolute best ways to avoid burning out is making sure to get plenty of sleep. If you work too hard without getting an adequate amount of sleep, you will become more mentally exhausted over time, and it may become difficult to focus. The CDC recommends that teenagers get at least eight hours per night.

Take Breaks

Taking breaks to do things you enjoy is also a great way to make sure you do not overwork yourself. If you start to feel like you are unable to keep working or are not making progress studying, try taking a short break to go for a walk or talk to a friend. Even if it is only ten minutes, it still gives your brain something to focus on other than the monotony of schoolwork.

Exercise

According to a study conducted by Harvard, another way to avoid burning out is making sure to get some exercise. Even if it is going for a quick run, something is always better than nothing and exercise is a great way to allow yourself to focus on something that is not work.

Create an Organized Schedule

Keeping an organized schedule is also a great way to prevent yourself from over working. Setting aside different blocks of time during the day to do different things is a way to make sure you are staying on schedule and getting everything completed on your list. Be sure to work in breaks to not overextend yourself.

Everyone is different and therefore everyone has different ways of preventing burnout, and if you have a way that works best for you, be sure to continue to use it. If you do not, try out some of the methods on this list and find the way that works best. I really hope this list helps you find the best way for you to avoid burnout!
