Hallmark Christmas Classics

Mary Hanna Bryant, Treasurer

As the holidays are fast approaching, there are many things about this time of year to enjoy. For example, family get-togethers, yummy hot chocolate to warm up from the cold, friendsgivings, and decorating cookies with friends. However, one of my favorite things to do during this time of year is to wrap up in a warm blanket on the couch and settle in to watch Hallmark movies. Although usually predictable, Hallmark movies are a seasonal staple that the holidays would not be the same without. Having enjoyed watching these movies for as long as I can remember, I have favorites that I feel obligated to share.

Christmas Under Wraps

After unexpectedly moving to Alaska, an ambitious doctor starts a new romance and learns that her small town is hiding a holiday secret. After first being released in 2014, this movie has become one of my favorites! Candace Cameron Bure is a recurring Hallmark actress, and this movie is one of her best!

Christmas Makeover

A TV personality’s image takes a hit when she admits, on air, that she hates Christmas. In order to restore her reputation, she films a special in a small town. While there, she feels the Christmas spirit for the first time.

A Dash of Love

This movie, which involves an aspiring chef who lands a dream job at her idol’s restaurant and befriends the handsome executive chef, gives you all the feels. After the two are wrongly fired, the duo open their own eatery to prove their food is better. This favorite involves a special romance and some tasty treats!

A Christmas Melody

A single mother moves back to her hometown with her young daughter. Having a hard time adjusting, the daughter seeks help from her music teacher to write a song for the Christmas variety show. Featuring Mariah Carey, this movie is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit with some superb songs!

A Christmas Detour

This movie released in 2015, is based on two travelers who become linked when a snowstorm grounds their flight in Buffalo. Paige desperately needs to find a way to New York City to meet her fiance’s parents, and it’s up to Dylan, a fellow passenger and a guy she can’t stand, to get her there.

A Wish for Christmas

In this movie, Sara prefers to be on the sidelines at work until someone steals her big idea for a Christmas initiative. She then makes a wish to Santa to gain the courage to stand up for herself, and he gives her 48 hours to discover how to speak her own mind.
