Recipes To Enjoy This Fall
Some may argue that fall is the best season to bake tasty treats. The warm smell of pumpkin spice and cinnamon fill the chilly, autumn air as the desserts are being prepared. Whether or not you are with your family or by yourself, a tasty treat can brighten your day. Not only is baking good during the fall season, but it is especially helpful with supplying the dessert for Thanksgiving lunch and dinner. Halloween also provides creative and decorative sweets as the ecstatic children travel from door to door.
My favorite part of fall is my mom making her homemade fall recipes every year. Sitting watching a Halloween movie while eating these treats has become a family tradition. Since this is one of my favorite traditions, I thought I would share some of the recipes from Spice Kitchen!
Pumpkin Bars with Cream Cheese Frosting
Ingredients:
2 cups sugar
½ cup vegetable oil
16 ounce can of pumpkin puree
4 eggs
2 cups of buttermilk baking mix (Bisquick)
2 tsp. ground cinnamon
3 ounces of packaged cream cheese
⅓ cup of softened butter or margarine
2 tbsp. of milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups of powdered sugar
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat sugar, oil, pumpkin, and eggs in a mixer bowl on medium speed for 1 minute. Stir in baking mix and cinnamon. Pour into a greased dish or pan, 15 ½ x 10 ½ inches. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Beat cream cheese, butter, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in powdered sugar until desired consistency, and then spread on the pumpkin bars.
Apple Pie
Ingredients:
6 to 8 apples, peeled, cored, sliced, and cooked until tender
1 ½ tsp. baking powder
1 cup of sugar
4 tbsp. of butter or margarine
¾ cup of plain flour
Dash of salt
½ cup of milk
Combine all ingredients, except apples, then fold in the cooked apples. Bake at 450 degrees until the crust is brown, about 20 minutes.
These recipes are perfect for fall, and I hope that you will start a tradition like mine of watching Halloween movies and eating the desserts you love!
