New year, new beauty trends! If you know me, then you know that I love all things beauty–hair, fashion, makeup, skincare, etc–which also means I have a slight obsession with Pinterest, and I love keeping up with the latest trends. So here is my take on the upcoming spring 2021 trends!

makeup trends: In my opinion, the best thing about the transition from winter to spring–other than the warmer weather and longer days–are the spring makeup trends. I went straight to my Pinterest to research the upcoming trends and in a gist, I found that this year’s spring makeup trends are all about color! Think vibrant lipsticks and shimmery eyeshadows. I scrolled through the whole category and pulled out some of the most stellar makeup trends to share. So, without further ado, the best spring 2021 makeup trends.

1. Yes, I said color is the focus for the spring trends; however, this trend is never going out of style: glowy skin, thin eyeliner, and natural brows. If you feel like adding some color, you could do a colorful eyeliner that is complementary to your eye color!

2. FYI: grey/black smokey eyes are played out. Instead of the basic colors, how about you grab a fluffy blending brush and some emerald green shadow to add some color into your dull winter days? The final look will have everyone green with envy.

3. Monochromatic is not synonymous with boring. Sweep an electric neon pink shadow on your lids and match it with a bold matte pink lip!

4. Color does not have to just stay on your lids. This spring 2021 trend lets your lashes get some love too! Swipe a coat (or three) of a colorful mascara to add a bit of color!

5. Need to wake up your face? Try out this 2021 spring makeup trend. Blend a light pink blush on your cheeks, temples, and underneath your brow bone to give yourself a pretty, all-over flush.

hair trends: “When you look good, you feel good” is something that I live by. When you are not leaving your house, it can be hard to want to put any effort into your hair. But if you are anything like me, when your hair looks good, it is an instant mood-booster. Doing your hair is not for anyone besides yourself, so try these 2021 spring hair trends for some fun!

1. If you are looking for a sign to chop your hair, this is it. Here are two reasons why you need this spring 2021 hair trend in your life: a blunt bob will show off your best features (hello, cheekbones), and it will make you feel so put together. Tip: to keep your baby hairs down, use a lightweight hair oil!

2. If the thought of dying your whole head platinum blonde stresses you out, why not color just a streak instead? I mean, all the cool girls on Instagram are doing it. This 90s inspired spring 2021 hair trend is a fun way to add an electric pop of color to your hair. 

3. Zendaya wore a bucket hat on the cover of GQ magazine in February, so that is what we are going to wear all throughout spring 2021! Sorry, I don’t make the rules. Rake a golf-ball sized amount of mousse through your ends to add some texture, plop on the bucket hat, then snap a selfie!

4. Forget your regular ol’ ponytail and grab tons of clear hair elastics to recreate the TikTok bubble ponytail! You could also use this to make them into pigtails!

5. Think of this spring 2021 hairstyle as a messier version of a low, French twist. First, roll up your hair and secure it with bobby pins (or a large claw clip). Then, pull out a few face framing pieces of hair and hit them with the curling iron to finish things off!
