Most people know or have heard of Travis Scott. But for those who don’t know what I’m talking about, Travis Scott is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer known mostly for dating Kylie Jenner.

Growing up in Houston, Texas, Travis Scott always had a love for McDonald’s. On September 8, 2020, McDonald’s collaborated with Travis Scott to help brand, market, and sell his favorite meal that he ordered every time he went to McDonald’s. Travis Scott’s signature meal consisted of a quarter pound hamburger topped with onions, pickles, shredded lettuce, crispy bacon, two slices of melted cheese, ketchup, and mustard, a side of fries with BBQ dipping sauce, and a Sprite. Since Scott still gets this same order, McDonald’s decided to add Travis Scott’s meal to its menu all around the world. The Travis Scott meal costs $6, and, using one of Scott’s signature taglines, McDonald’s says “It’s lit!”

In the past, previous generations’ first (and only) choice for fast food was McDonald’s.  Now, younger generations have many choices such as Chick-fil-a, Panera, Jersey Mike’s, and Zaxby’s competing for their business. Since McDonald’s is not as popular among the younger generations, McDonald’s uses Scott to reach younger consumers by connecting their food with a current and influential music icon.

Over the last week, the Travis Scott Meal has become very popular. In fact, due to its high demand, there is a quarter pounder shortage. After ordering Travis Scott’s meal,  11th grader Reynolds Cobb understands why there is a Quarter Pounder shortage. Reynolds Cobb said, “The Travis Scott burger is without a doubt better than what I usually order at McDonald’s.”  Beyond the food, Scott and McDonald’s are releasing an array of merchandise such as t-shirts, shorts, pants, hats, and hoodies, as well as metal lunch boxes, rugs, jerseys, basketballs, blankets, life size action figure cutouts, and most importantly, Chicken McNugget body pillows. Scott’s meal and merchandise will only be available until October 4th, so hurry to McDonald’s to be a part of the craze!
