Grandparent’s Day 2014

This past Friday, September 26th, RMA welcomed grandparents and grand-friends to our school. This tradition is one that the lower school students look forward to at the beginning of every school year. This year grandparents were welcomed to see a musical production by each grade, shop at the book fair, and to go back to their grandchild’s classroom to meet their teachers and do an activity.

This year, like in years past, the lower school students put on an impressive production led by RMA’s fantastic music teacher, Mrs. Braswell. Students from pre-k to 5th grade practiced their songs for weeks leading up to the show. Their hard work and dedication to making the concert special for the Grandparents certainly did pay off. The music was carefully chosen to interest our special guests. “Tutti Frutti” by Little Richard and “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” by the Beatles were two of the many songs that were performed. Students showed their enthusiasm and put on a real show by dancing, laughing, and enjoying themselves all throughout the production. Grandparent and teachers alike loved seeing RMA’s students so animated and eager to give our guests the best show possible.

After the concert, middle school Eagle Ambassadors led grandparents to their grandchild’s classroom to meet their teachers. Grandparents truly got the RMA experience by seeing where their children learn. Grandparents were also able to meet their teachers as well as the lower school head, Mrs. Lancaster. After a meet and greet and an activity with their grandchild, they headed over to the book fair where they were able to spend even more quality time with each other. This year’s Grandparent’s day was one of the best yet and would not have been possible without parent volunteers and Eagle Ambassadors who helped things run as smoothly as they could for students, teachers, and grandparents alike.
