RMA Football Stays Strong Against St. David’s

Last Friday night the RMA football team traveled to Raleigh to compete against St. David’s School. Coming off a huge win the week before against Hobgood Academy, the team had high expectations set for them. RMA rose to the occasion as they beat the Warriors by 18 points. They improved their record to 3-0 with solid defense, an aggressive offense, and a strong will to win.

The Eagles came out hot in the first half with 34 straight points. Led by star running back Jacob Hunter and quarterback Brice Andraccio, the team’s offense was on fire. RMA’s receivers were able to drive straight past the Warriors’ defenders for easy points. Along with The Eagles’ offense, their defense was on point as well. The prominent defensive players for the first half were seniors Jackson Browder and Trevor Graham with 10 tackles each. Kyle Holland’s impressive interception was also a key contribution to the defensive effort. As the first half came to a close the RMA crowd, coaching staff, and players were fired up about the 34-14 lead that the Eagles held over the Warriors.

As the game entered the second half several RMA players suffered from cramps. With substitutes coming in and out, the team looked a bit disorganized. Landon Clontz summarized the events by saying, “We played hard for the first half, but cramping and lack of hydration led to many players having to come out of the game. As a result, the secondary had some confusion and St. David’s was able to rally and score some more points by passing against us.” Despite these setbacks, the Eagles were able to score 26 points in the second half and end the game at 60-42. With this win under RMA’s belt, they remain undefeated and improve to 3-0. The team shows no signs of slowing down, as they prepare for the rest of their season. They also have their hearts set on a second straight state championship, and they sure are on track to do so. The Eagles’ next game is away at Community Christian School at 7:30 on Friday, September 19th. Come out to RMA and support the team at their next home game against Lawrence Academy on Friday, September 26th at 7:30.
