Senior Spotlight: Davis Collins

Davis with Taylor Connie

Elias Moore

This week’s senior spotlight is about none other than Davis Collins. I have known Davis since the first day he attended Rocky Mount Academy, participating in the middle school workshop with Mr. Stone. The first thing he ever said to me was a pun, and let’s just say that hasn’t changed since. His great sense of humor was probably why Davis was so quick to became my friend. Since middle school Davis has become well-known as our grade’s comedian, bringing laughter to every class he is placed in. From Mr. Hester’s math class to psychology with Mr. Stone, Davis is sure to make them all memorable.

Davis’s entire family is very involved with Rocky Mount Academy. His mother works in lower school while he attended school with both his brothers. Max, his older brother, has graduated and is attending college while Wade, his younger brother, is in eighth grade. Davis has worked in after school care with his mother for some time now, no doubt helping the kids pass the time with his witty remarks. In addition to helping the school here, Davis also played on the varsity tennis team for a year, getting a seeded spot even without having played once before in his life.

Even with all his involvement in these extracurriculars, Davis still manages to maintain great grades in his classes. He has so far taken Honors English classes, AP Psychology with Mr. Stone, AP Biology with Ms. Lehnes, and Precalculus with Ms. Carter, along with other difficult honors classes.

There is no doubt that next year the school will be a different place without Davis. He will surely be missed by his teachers and peers, but will certainly fit in perfectly at whichever college he chooses to attend.
