Varsity Softball Defeats Rival Faith Christian

This past Friday the 28th, our varsity tennis, baseball, and softball teams traveled to battle FCS at their place for the final match up of the school year. Although tennis and baseball did not fall in our favor, the softball team dominated by pulling out a 20 – 5 victory.

The Lady Eagles had a stellar defensive performance all across the board.  Fantastic pitching by Ashley Wright started rolling the dice of success with 7 strikeouts and only a few walks.  The defense stayed tough behind her, led by Gabbi Stewart, who made a crucial play on second, a bunt play on third, and caught a pop fly. Casey Jones also contributed with a couple strong plays from shortstop. The outfield also had a strong performance led by Parker Ferebee in center field with a great catch.

At the plate, the team was just as impressive as they were on the field.  The girls hit strong all the way through the line up. Meagan Phillips had three hits, Madison Glover and Ashley Wright both had two, Mary Hanna Bryant, Renate Ma, Parker Ferebee and Law Kitchen all had one, and Casey Jones had a single and a grand slam! This win takes the Eagles to a 3-1 conference record. They team is looking forward to more conference play as they take on Halifax Academy at home on Tuesday the 2nd and travel to Oakwood the following week. The girls are  working hard to have a strong end to the season, finishing well in the conference and hopefully make the state tournament.
