This week’s Senior Spotlight showcases varsity basketball player and long-time RMA student, Elizabeth Ann Gibson. Elizabeth Ann has been at RMA for almost 7 years now, and not one of them has been poorly spent. Elizabeth Ann is guaranteed to put a smile on your face no matter what your mood. She truly brings joy and happiness to the 2017 senior class of RMA with her caring spirit, contagious laugh and ever-present smile. Senior Anna Scott Wingfield stated, “Elizabeth Ann always makes me feel better when I am having a bad day and our Senior Class would not be the same without her.” A good indication of Elizabeth’s passions including her dog Lucy, Disney World and her friends can be found on her Instagram which she loves to keep updated!

Elizabeth Ann has been on the girl’s junior varsity and varsity basketball teams her high school career. Not only does she play basketball but she is also one of the biggest UNC basketball fans I have ever met. She goes to almost every home game the Tar Heels have. In her free time she loves to travel, play music, take pictures, and ride horses. Elizabeth Ann has also been a volunteer for Camp HOPE. Camp HOPE is an organization for children with special needs with a goal is to help the children achieve whatever goals they might have. She loves working with youth and this carries over to helping at school where she also volunteers with coaching the lower school PE classes which she has done for a few years now.

Elizabeth Ann’s RMA community will always support her no matter where she goes and what she does. She truly has touched everyone at Rocky Mount Academy and those who she has interacted with during her past seven years at our school.  Once an eagle, always an eagle!

What has been your favorite class at RMA?

Music with Mr. Leonard, Ceramics with Mrs. Patton and everything with Mrs. Littke!  I will miss RMA!

What is your favorite RMA school trip you have been on? 

The senior trip to New York City!

What will you miss the most about RMA?

My friends and my basketball team!

What is your favorite long lunch destination?

Chicos!!!

How long have you been at RMA? 

Since 6th grade.

What is your favorite sport?

Basketball and horseback riding.

What is your favorite sports team?

The Tarheel’s Basketball Team.

What is your favorite Netflix show?

I don’t watch a Netflix.

What is your favorite sport memory? 

My favorite sports memory is the 3 pointer I made against Halifax at my last home game.

Where is the coolest place you have travelled to?

I’ve to so many cool places – Norway, South Africa, Turkey, Italy, Greece, Paris- but I love Disney best of all.

What is your pet peeve?

Being too busy to sleep late on weekends.
