Senior Spotlight: Paul King

This week’s Senior Spotlight focuses on standout Paul King. Paul joined the Rocky Mount Academy family in 10th grade, and has thrived ever since. Around campus, students across grade levels know his friendly smile. Paul is beloved by his teachers because of his not too serious personality and very serious work ethic. To put it simply, Paul has been a great addition to the Class of 2017.

During his time at RMA, Paul has been heavily involved in his academic life and extracurricular activities. A diligent worker in any setting, Paul has seen his efforts translate into successes on many fronts. In the classroom, Paul’s achievements have included Academic Excellence in Honors World Cultures, Honorable Mention on the National Spanish Exam, and two nominations for the Robert Sykes Mathematics Award. In 11th grade, Paul was awarded the Joshua Weaver Scholarship, an award which honors the memory of lower school teacher Libba Weaver’s son. In 11th and 12th grade, Paul was a recipient of the Turner Battle Scholarship which recognizes college potential, school spirit, and leadership. This honor is also the largest and oldest scholarship at RMA, which honors the memory and vision of our school’s founder, Turner W. Battle. For all of his hard work, RMA nominated Paul for the Levine Scholarship at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Alongside academics, Paul has worked toward success in athletics. He was a member of the two-time state championship winning football team. In the spring you can find Paul on the baseball field encouraging his teammates at every turn.
