RMA Spirit Week Filled with Color and Events
September 21, 2015
If you’ve walked the halls at RMA this past week, you’ve surely noticed something different. Could it be the posters promoting the Color Run coming this Friday to raise money for our school? Or the two Boosterthon of Raleigh employees, Bam Bam Brett and Epic Elliot, pumping up the students with prizes, dancing, and daily visits to classrooms that caught your eye? Either way, it’s clear that something big is happening at RMA! All the fun continues with spirit week, the annual Powderpuff game, the alumni dinner, the football homecoming game, and the homecoming dance.
Fundraising: a necessary evil for schools and organizations. But who said it has to be a pain? Instead of selling boring wrapping paper and going door to door asking friends, neighbors, and family members to buy a product, RMA is offering students an exciting hands-on experience. For a flat fee of $50 (additional pledges are encouraged), upper and middle school students can run or walk 3 miles, with color packets flying everywhere, and enjoy time with friends. It is so important that students from all grade levels participate in this event so we can give back to our school that does so much for us (plus who wouldn’t want to get out of class to hang out with friends and run a Color Run?). Register at https://funrun.com/auth/login and click sign up. If you are under 18, your parents must register you under the sign up tab, and from there they can register a student.
Before all of the fun on Friday, there is the highly anticipated spirit week. With different themes everyday- Monday is pajama day (as always), Tuesday is twin/dynamic duo day, Wednesday is decade day, Thursday is tacky tourist day, and Friday is RMA spirit day- this week is sure to pack so much fun for teachers and students alike.
What is homecoming week without a good athletic event? Between the beloved Powederpuff game on Wednesday night at 7:00, and the Varsity game against Community Christian School Friday night at 7:00, there will be plenty of football to go around! Come out and watch the girls from the Senior- Junior team take on the girls from the Sophomore-Freshman team out on the field. Members of the Varsity Football team will coach and offer guidance while soccer players cheer on participants wearing the cheerleaders’ uniforms. All alumni are invited to a free alumni dinner at the Varsity Football game Friday night provided by a generous donor. Be sure to reserve your spot for dinner at the alumni tent. Whether you graduated in 2015 or 1970, we want to see you there!
With so many events going on this week, it’s safe to say that there won’t be a dull moment on campus. Be sure to capture all of the excitement on Instagram! Use the hashtag #RMAeaglenation and tag @rockymountacademy so we can feature your pictures in a slideshow to be uploaded on the Eagle Examiner!
