Chew ‘n Chat is a Hit

Chew 'n Chat is a Hit

Brendan Acker, Treasurer

Just down the street from Rocky Mount High School sits a small town restaurant like no other.

As you walk in you see the generic small town restaurant scenes, a couple regulars sitting at the bar, a local T.V. channel, and a waitress making small talk with everyone; making them feel welcome. But once you sit down and look at the menu, you realize this isn’t just a small town restaurant.

Manager Keith Pittman worked in a Cajun Style restaurant in New Orleans as a chef. Pittman decided to move to North Carolina and opened his very own restaurant. With him, he brought the famous Cajun-style cooking, hoping to bring part of his culture to Rocky Mount.  The Chew N’ Chat is open for Breakfast and Lunch every day, treating locals to a taste of Cajun-style food. For breakfast, the Chew N’ Chat offers a good home style, Southern breakfast. From eggs to pancakes, and even the Café Big Breakfast all offer a Southern style with a hint of Cajun. For lunch the Chew N’ Chat offers a wide array of foods. They offer many different styles of cheeseburgers and different kinds of seafood. For those in search of an Eastern North Carolina lunch, you can order a BBQ Sandwich or a cheeseburger. Those in search of something out of the ordinary can look at the seafood. From a Shrimp PoBoy to Shrimp and Grits and even Blackened Catfish, the Chew N’ Chat offers a wide variety of seafood spiced with only the best of Cajun seasonings.

This family friendly place offers the best Cajun food around for a very reasonable price. Expect many of RMA’s Juniors and Seniors to take a visit over to the Chew N’ Chat during long lunch this year. Media Office definitely recommends this hometown hot spot for a lunch out during the week or a breakfast on a rainy Saturday morning.
