The Cafeteria Staff here at RMA has always been incredibly friendly and well-liked by faculty and students. The popularity of Mrs. Yvonne, Mrs. Savorda, and Mrs. Jan can be attributed to their delicious food and uplifting kindness that is sometimes much-needed on a rough day. Some of the favorite items of the cafeteria include chicken alfredo, sesame chicken, subs, french fries, pizza, and of course, the sugar cookies. The amazing sugar cookies are always in high demand and have sometimes resulted in races for the last one. Although the food is pretty great, so are the people that serve it everyday. To learn more about them, read the interview below:

What is your favorite dish that is made in the cafeteria?

Mrs. Yvonne: Chicken alfredo

Mrs. Savorda: Hot dog

Mrs. Jan: Sesame chicken

When did you start working at RMA?

Y: 28 years! I also worked at Harris Teeter for 11 years.

S: 6 years ago

J: This is my first year working at RMA!

What’s your favorite part about working here?

Y & J: The kids!

S: We love y’all!

What gave you the idea to apply for a position at RMA?

Y: Mrs. Frances recommended me in 1986. When I started, I was the cashier.

S: Mrs. Schmitt told me about an open position and hired me.

J: At my previous job, a food service representative told me about an opening in the cafeteria staff at RMA and that he thought I would be a good candidate.

What is something funny or memorable that has happened while you have worked here?

S: Tell it! Tell it!

Y: This morning, Savorda was making grilled cheese and forgot the cheese! She only had grilled, buttered bread for sale- it was only missing the cheese.

What is your favorite TV show?

Y: I don’t have one!

S: Anything on BET!

J: Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal are my favorites. I love Thursdays!

What are your favorite hobbies?

Y: I love reading romance novels!

S: Reading books and doing crossword puzzles

J: Reading, camping, and baking

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Y: Paris

S: I don’t know! I would ask my husband. Maybe Hawaii because I love Hawaii Five-0.

J: Hungary because I am half Hungarian and have never visited before.

What is one your pet peeves?

Y & S: When people can’t decide what they want to order- it holds up the line

J: When I first started working here, I was annoyed when people forgot their cards. It’s not so bad anymore now that some people can keep their cards at the register.

What do you enjoy doing over the summer?

Y: I have enjoyed taking cooking classes at Nash Community College.

S: Nothing! Just relaxing and being a housewife.

J: This year will be must first summer off, so I’m not sure yet. Maybe I will go to Seattle to see my family.
