This week’s featured senior for the Eagle Examiner’s Senior Spotlight is none other than RMA’s very own Jay Mills. Jay came to RMA in the 11th grade and has since become a familiar face to many around school. He is actively involved in many activities both in and out of school, but, if you know Jay, you know it most likely involves a football. Jay was a member of the Varsity Football team both of his years at RMA. He was a huge contributor to the team, and as a result, he helped lead the squad to state championships in 2013 and again in 2014. His hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed, as he was awarded 1st Team Defense his senior year. Jay also shows his love for sports outside of school, as well. Since 9th grade, he has worked at the Nash County Parks and Recreation keeping score for basketball and baseball games and refereeing soccer games.

During the summer, Jay focuses much of his time organizing and volunteering in a community service week. For several hours a day, he works in local parks fixing benches, picking up trash, and doing any other necessary improvements. He also volunteers at a summer camp at his church and operates the camera two Sunday’s each month.

Most known for his friendly personality, it is no wonder that Jay was voted “Most Outgoing” by his peers. Jay will certainly be missed next year as he heads off to college in the fall, but he will always be remembered by his beaming personality and contributions on the football field. Get to know Jay even better with our personal interview with him below:
