Winter Vacation Destinations

Among the many students who vacationed closer to the equator this year, Florida was the most popular destination. Senior Anna Claire Thompson enjoyed the time she spent on Marathon Key with her family. Anna Claire stated, “I always love visiting the Keys with my family during the winter because of the warm climate and relaxed ambiance.” Along with Anna Claire, Junior Samantha Sconyers visited family in Ponte Vedra, Florida over break. While there, Sam surfed and celebrated Christmas with loved ones.

While many people enjoyed warmer temperatures over the break, other students bundled up while spending time in colder climates. Junior Mackenzie Thompson shopped in New York City and enjoyed the multitude of restaurant choices the city has to offer. Another Junior, Jami Perkins, visited family over the holidays in her hometown of Lacona, New York. Every other year, Jami enjoys returning to see friends and family members over break. Colorado was also a popular destination over the break, especially for those who enjoy skiing and snowboarding. Elizabeth and Caroline Gay rang in the New Year in Beaver Creek, Colorado with family members this year. The family spent most of their time on the slopes or in shops. Regarding the Beaver Creek experience, Caroline says, “I feel like I’m in a completely different place and I love it!” Aspen, Colorado was also a popular destination for RMA students this year. Lindsey Ross and the Barnhill Family enjoyed the wide array of high-end restaurants and shops Aspen has to offer along with the world-renowned skiing conditions.

Whether students relaxed in the sun or enjoyed the cold, this school year’s extended Winter Break was much needed and a great time for students and teachers to unwind. Now that school has resumed, everyone can begin January refreshed.
