To supplement our stellar academic and athletic programs, RMA offers numerous clubs. Some are more academic (like National Honor Society and Beta Club), some are service-oriented (such as Key Club and Conservation Club), and others focus on the arts (like Drama and Photography Clubs). This year, we have two new clubs at RMA: Willing Hearts and Content Creators.

Content Creators was started by senior Lina Abukaff. Although the club is new, Lina gathered the idea from past RMA students Aashni Patel and Deena Hashmi, who ran a similar club in 2023-2024 that did fun things like post student interviews and outfits online. Since Aashni and Deena are no longer at RMA, the club went on hiatus last year, but their friend Lina decided to continue the club with some slight changes. Lina plans to use TikToks about student life to show others how much fun we have at RMA! Current ideas include recaps of games, videos of school events, popular trends embraced by RMA students, spirit week, etc. Joining Content Creators is an excellent opportunity for students who love posting on social media to combine their interests and tech skills with campus life.
Also new this year is Willing Hearts, which junior Cameron MacDonald created after being inspired by her work in a soup kitchen over the summer. Seeing all those who aren’t as fortunate as she is opened Cameron’s eyes, and she wanted a way to assist as many local people and organizations as possible. For now, the club is helping My Sister’s House (Rocky Mount), which houses women and children escaping domestic violence, Earth’s Angels (Tarboro), which helps get Christmas gifts to children and families in need, and Tender Mercies Pet Organization (Macclesfield), which is an animal rescue that houses animals until they can find permanent homes. Willing Hearts is also hoping to partner with UNC-Nash Hospital’s cancer, pediatric, and women’s centers at some point. Although it seems similar to Key Club, which also chooses a couple of charities to support each year, the difference is that not every club member will be helping the same organization; each student can pick one organization from those listed above and give it their full attention. By spreading members out across so many charities, each student will have the opportunity to volunteer in person, making Willing Hearts ideal for individuals with a passion for helping and connecting with others on a personal level.
RMA students clearly had some great ideas when they thought of these clubs that are sure to make an impact. It’s not too late to join; just reach out to Lina Abukaff (Content Creators) or Cameron MacDonald (Willing Hearts) to help out in any way possible!
