This week’s Senior Spotlight highlights a returning member of RMA’s Media Office, Aahad Chaudhry, who possesses an incredibly outgoing and humorous personality. Since joining RMA back in the first grade, Aahad’s friendly nature has made him well-liked by his peers, and he, in turn, tries to share the love! Aahad’s friend Landry Miller says, “Aahad is friendly towards everyone and tries not to exclude anyone from any activity.” That sense of inclusion led Aahad to receive the citizenship award sophomore year, which is truly a big honor at this school!
Extracurricular activities and club involvement are valued by students at Rocky Mount Academy, and Aahad has opted to participate in clubs that focus on interacting with others. He is a very involved member of Stronger Together, which is where students help with the Exceptional
Children’s Program. One of his favorite things to do during his time with these special kids is talk with Lower School EC student William about Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers. They agree that the Panthers are going to win the Super Bowl this year! Along with volunteering with Stronger Together, Aahad is in Key Club, which is a service-based organization that does things like hand out toys at the Rocky Mount Christmas parade, and Media Office, which gives him time to work with his peers and teachers in a more relaxed environment and get to know them better.
Although he is a real “people person,” Aahad will tell you that he is also an ambitious guy, and you can see that through his work in the classroom. This year, he is taking AP Psychology, AP Biology, Honors Pre-Calculus, and English 12 Honors. Coupled with his rigorous course load, Aahad is enrolled in Ceramics, which gives Aahad a chance to destress from his everyday schoolwork while embracing the opportunity to learn a new skill.
Over the summer, Aahad interned for Sandy Roberson, the Mayor of Rocky Mount, and helped with campaign plans and strategies to improve the downtown area. Aahad is still interning for Mayor Roberson and plans to stay with him until he leaves for college. Aahad plans to apply to NC State, UNC-Charlotte, and ECU, where he plans to major in either communication or business, and looks forward to joining the Muslim student association so he can make friends who have similar backgrounds. As you can see, Aahad is someone who seeks out opportunities to improve himself personally and professionally, so we know he will find great success in life!

No article about Aahad would be complete without acknowledging his passion for football–it truly is a fire no one can put out! He understands everything about the game, whether it is plays being run or random stats that not many of us know (and believe me, he knows them by heart). Channeling this passion into writing about football for the school newspaper even encouraged his mother, who prefers cricket to football, to begin learning about it. He took this love to the field freshman year, where he played offensive and defensive line. While that was his only year playing Eagle sports, he still shows his love for RMA athletics by watching his friends play, especially football and basketball.
One thing Aahad says he will miss about RMA is not getting to see his friends and classmates every day, and we will also miss this friendly, hardworking, sports-loving guy!
