One of this week’s spotlights is on senior Parker Gupton, who made the exciting decision to commit to the ECU Honors College last week! Here, we’ll take a look at his life as an RMA student leading up to this amazing opportunity.
Parker has been part of the Eagle family since his freshman year of high school, and he has made the most of his time by challenging himself academically. While here, he has received awards such as Excellence in Honors Pre-Calculus and Highest Academic Average in AP Environmental Science. (This last award is no surprise since, as you’ll see below, Parker spends a lot of time outdoors.) He is continuing to excel in some very tough classes this year: Honors Calculus, AP Biology, AP Statistics, and AP English 12. Rounding out his schedule are Sports Management and EC Help (assisting our Exceptional Children’s program).
Parker has participated in extracurricular activities like Key Club, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Stronger Together. After school, Parker played baseball his freshman year but has spent most of Upper School on the golf course, playing on the RMA golf team since tenth grade.
An avid outdoorsman, Parker spends the majority of his free time hunting and fishing. He goes down to Swan Quarter on the Coast of North Carolina near the Pamlico River. Parker has been invested in this sport since he got invited to join his family friend on a hunting trip. He fell in love with it pretty quickly and has made many connections within this community so that now he can help with the company that sponsors these trips. While there, he also enjoys just spending time with his family.
To prepare for what’s sure to be a bright future, Parker applied to ECU, Appalachian State, and NC State but ultimately decided to commit to the ECU Honors College where he will major in Construction Management. After college, he plans to work in the construction field, hopefully focusing on underground and residential construction; he aspires to one day own and operate his own construction company. The whole RMA family can agree without a doubt that these dreams are within Parker’s reach, and we wish him the best of luck!
