One of three senior spotlights this week is on Micah Boseman, who has been here since fourth grade. If he had to describe himself in three words, it would be hardworking, inclusive, and generous. I played football with Micah and can vouch for his inclusivity and generosity: I thought I knew the sport before joining our varsity team, but watching and playing are two different things, and it was Micah who helped me learn and understand how to play.
Micah has definitely challenged himself this year, as he is taking four APs as a senior: Calculus, English, Psychology, and Biology. A testament to his pursuit of academic excellence, Micah has received many awards and distinctions, such as the Turner Battle Scholarship and Dr. K Scholorship, as well as invitations to join the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Beta Club.
One of the biggest contributions Micah has made to RMA is being one of our standout athletes. Micah played football all four years of high school as a defensive tackle and offensive guard. He was named all-conference his junior year and defensive MVP his senior year. Although we think of Micah mostly as a football player, he is also talented at other sports. During the spring he runs track and field, and plays discus and shot put. He has competed in the state tournament every year in discus and competed in shot put in the NCISAA state tournament in his sophomore year.
One of Micah’s favorite activities is spending time outdoors. He enjoys duck hunting in the spring and raccoon hunting in the winter. Micah also spends a fair amount on the water, as he enjoys going to Lake Gaston to wakeboard and wake surf.
Micah has been accepted to NC State, Ole Miss, and Auburn. In college, Micah would like to pursue a major in Agriculture Business or Agriculture Engineering. (Micah says he especially enjoys learning about the electrical and mechanical parts of agriculture, such as working on tractors and other farming equipment, so that’s where the ag engineering idea comes in.) This desire to pursue farming is no surprise, as he is vocal about his love for animals and

nature. Farming is also his family’s business: in his free time, he works on his family’s farm or for his grandpa, so he already has lots of experience with it. Micah intends to either come back home after college and work on his farm or for a company that makes farming equipment. We wish Micah the best in all of his future endeavors and his life after RMA.

What will you miss about RMA?
I will miss the feeling of community and all of my favorite teachers. I am also going to miss playing football, helping with the EC class, and going to long lunch with my friends.
Describe your perfect day at RMA:
I would start off the day with EC Help. After that, I would take AP Environmental with Dr. Wells, AP Calculus with Mrs. Meadows, but instead of doing calculus, we would get Mrs. Meadows off-topic the whole time. I would take AP US history, but Mr. Stone would just tell us stories and get off-topic. I would have study hall and hang out with my friends. After a long lunch at Zaxby’s, I would have weightlifting for the last 2 blocks of the day.
What is one lesson you learned at RMA?
I’ve learned that you get out what you put in.
