One of this week’s senior spotlights focuses on Colin Agan, who describes himself as “easy-going.” One of his many friends, Carter Ingram, says that Colin “always knows how to calm a situation down with his chill attitude.” That easy-going attitude hasn’t stopped Colin from involving himself in the life of the school since he joined the RMA family his ninth-grade year after leaving OLPH.
His senior year, Colin has been working hard in AP Biology, Honors Calculus, and Honors English. As these upper-level courses show, Colin is a capable student. As a freshman, sophomore, and junior, Colin took Spanish I through III and even received an award for Excellence in Spanish II. Complementing these more academic classes, Colin is currently taking Ceramics (which he’s trying for the first time!), Sports Management, and Weightlifting.
As you can probably guess from these last two courses, Colin is an athlete; he has spent a lot of time on the soccer field over the years, benefitting our RMA soccer program as a starting striker who’s been awarded All-Conference honors all four years of Upper School and All-State this year. This success in soccer is probably part of why Colin joined the football team as the main kicker for the 2024 season. Colin also played basketball his freshman and sophomore years and has picked it back up this year, playing forward as a varsity basketball player.
Throughout high school, Colin has also participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (one of our clubs) and has been dedicated to Key Club where he has especially enjoyed the ice cream sales that they participate in to raise money for organizations in need.
Colin loves to hang out with his friends either at his house or at the beach and play a friendly game of poker. He says dealing cards is his special talent; maybe because of his dexterity as an athlete, he is fast and good at shuffling! Colin spends most of his free time on the golf course with his friends during the summer and works at Belmont Country Club driving the golf carts. He says that spending time with his friends from Rocky Mount is the thing he will miss most when leaving for college.
Colin has applied to NC State, UNC-Wilmington, ECU, Appalachian State, and Wingate. So far, he has received acceptances from Wingate and ECU. Whichever school he ends up at, he plans to major in business or construction management. RMA wishes Colin success in whatever he chooses to do!
