We have a new addition to the senior room, but that sure doesn’t mean Stone Ramey is a stranger to anyone! Despite spending all of his academic career in public schools like Rocky Mount High, he is a familiar face to many RMA students. His cousins–Alex, Spencer, and Ramey Gardner–also attended the Academy, but Stone’s connections run even deeper. His mom graduated from RMA in 1995 and was even the Eagles’ prom queen! Just this year, his father, Ellis Ramey, joined the RMA family as our new girls’ varsity tennis coach.
Like his dad, Stone will be an amazing addition to our athletic program as he joins both the soccer and tennis teams. He has been on fields and courts for the majority of his life, and his efforts have paid off. He has already become one of our top strikers, giving us 3 goals and 3 assists against Parrott just last week! We cannot wait to see what Stone will do for our tennis program this spring!
For his first and only year at RMA, Stone is taking Marine Biology–which he says is his favorite class so far–Ecology, English 12 H, Algebra III/Trigonometry, Weightlifting, and Sports Management. These last two classes are meant to start Stone on the path to a career, as he hopes to major in Sports Medicine and become an athletic trainer for a sports team after hopefully attending UNC-Wilmington or ECU, which he’s applying to this fall. After finishing college and getting started on his career, Stone says he can picture himself 10 years from now down at the beach, surfing and playing the occasional golf match–which sounds like the athletic but calm person we’ve already started getting to know. We are so excited Stone has joined our family and can’t wait to see where life and this school year take him!
