This week’s senior spotlight is on a member of the Class of 2024 who has been a great addition to RMA since she arrived in the ninth grade: Jessica Proctor. While only having been at RMA for high school, Jessica has become an important part of our class, creating lasting friendships and bonds that make it feel like we’ve known her forever. We have been best friends since 9th grade, and I can definitely say it feels like I’ve known her for a lifetime. Her willingness to help and always support me is unmatched and a quality that is hard to find. Close friend Gabbi Ams also says, “Anytime I feel down, she will text me and make sure I’m okay.” Her sociable personality and humor make her so fun to be around and spend time with.
For her senior year, Jessica is taking Chemistry, Sports Medicine, English 12, Algebra III Trig (her favorite this year), Economics, and Ceramics. In tenth grade, she earned a spot on the honor roll and continues to work hard. Mrs. Helms, the math teacher, says, “Jessica is a diligent and proactive student. She always comes to class prepared and stays ahead of the game, understanding the material.”
Outside of the classroom, Jessica stays involved in campus life as a member of Key Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also an extremely active member of RMA athletics, playing Varsity Volleyball, Varsity Basketball, and Varsity Softball beginning in 9th grade. A skilled athlete, she is a starter for all sports and won All-Conference for basketball and softball in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades and All-State for softball in 9th grade. Her love for softball is evident through her participation in travel softball since she was a little girl.
Jessica is applying to East Carolina University, University of North Carolina-Wilmington, and William Peace University to study physical therapy. She hopes to one day own her own physical therapy business. In college, she is looking forward to gaining freedom and growing to be more independent. I can personally say that Jessica has been such a huge part of my high school experience, and I think I can speak for the class of 2024 when I say we will truly miss her next year.
