Senior Spotlight: Abby Seymour
March 24, 2023
This week’s senior spotlight will focus on the fabulous Abby Seymour. Abby joined the class in 2023 in eighth grade. She is super dependable and always there for her friends whether they need words of encouragement or just someone willing to listen. Abby’s teachers appreciate her positive outlook on life and hardworking nature, making her an enjoyable student to teach. Abby would describe herself as kind, caring, and helpful all the qualities that makeup such a wonderful friend. This year I have been able to get to know Abby on a more personal level, and she has become one of my very favorite people to spend time with and get to know. Although I regret not getting closer to Abby sooner, I am so grateful for the time I’ve been able to spend with her and the memories we’ve been able to make.
Abby loves to take classes that pique her interest and challenge her. This year, Abby is enrolled in AP Bio, English 12 Honors, Algebra 3, Ceramics, AP Environmental, and Art. Abby’s hard work in academics has not gone unnoticed, as she received an award for academic excellence in Honors Biology I. Abby enjoys the small class sizes that RMA provides, allowing her to better communicate with her teacher and classmates. Abby especially loves her art classes with Mrs. Hunter. Mrs. Hunter says, “Abby is a very special young lady. She always brings a smile and a calm presence to my class even on tough days. I’ve seen her determination and resilience in all the ceramic projects she produced this year. I will miss her dearly but I can’t wait to see what she accomplishes in the future.” I’ve been able to see many of Abby’s creations and am always astounded by her artistic abilities.
In her free time, Abby enjoys giving back to her community. She especially enjoys volunteering with her mother at the Shrine Club, helping prep for fundraisers and decorating for events. Her kind and loving nature allow her to excel in this activity. Abby also enjoys spending time outdoors at the lake and beach during the summer months. The lake is especially where Abby feels most at peace, as she is able to spend time with her friends and family creating irreplaceable memories.
Abby has a wonderful future ahead of her. She has applied to UNCW, ECU, App State, and NC State with an intended major in political science. She has already received acceptance into UNCW, ECU, and App State and has decided to spend the next four years of her education at UNCW exploring the numerous career paths she can pursue. We wish Abby all the best as she continues into the next chapter of her life!
