This Senior Spotlight features one of the newest members of the class of 2023: Caroline Feamster. Caroline came to be part of the Rocky Mount Academy family this fall, joining us all the way from Gastonia, but you would never know that, as it feels like she has been with us the whole time! Her outgoing personality has allowed her to fit in seamlessly. A friend to all, she uses the words empathetic, loving, and driven to describe herself, and those words sum her up perfectly since she is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. She always has a smile on her face and a positive attitude about almost everything. Her can-do attitude allows her to do just about anything she sets her mind to, including being brave enough to join a new school her senior year!

Driven is the perfect word to describe Caroline when it comes to academics, since she is taking a rigorous course filled with four AP classes, including AP Calculus, AP Literature, AP Biology, and AP Psychology. She is also taking Spanish 2 and Art 3. An excellent student, she , she earned a spot as a Junior Graduation Marshal last year. In addition to keeping up with academics, Caroline has joined multiple clubs this year. She is very deeply rooted in her faith, which can be seen with her participation in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She is also a member of Key Club and Beta Club and shares her loving personality with those around her through her participation in Kindness Club.

Caroline started competitive dance when she was in the fourth grade and continued on for five years, mastering classes in ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical dance.Se has also played softball since she was five years old and plans on continuing at RMA. Through the sport, she has made tons of great friends and learned many valuable life lessons. Outside of school, Caroline enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also really likes to go swimming in her pool and shopping (where she spends too much money). She also really loves painting, reading, and watching netflix.

This fall, Caroline applied to NC State, UNC, and ECU (to which she has already been accepted!). She plans to major in biological sciences, a topic she will definitely thrive in. I am so glad I have gotten to know Caroline this year. I have only been friends with her for a few months, but I cannot imagine this year without her.As close friend Rachael Godwinsays, “I’m so happy Caroline came to RMA. She has such a kind and bubbly personality that makes it so easy to get to know her. I’m thankful that she has become my friend over this school year, and she is going to do great things in college.”  There is no doubt in my mind that Caroline will thrive at whichever college she chooses to go to. From everyone here at RMA, we wish Caroline the best of luck next year, and know that you will do many great things!

Describe your dream vacation.

My dream vacation would be to fly to Hawaii with my family. We would stay at a fancy resort and go on fun excursions.

Who is your role model?

My mom is my greatest role model. She has taught me what it means to be a well-spoken, strong independent woman.

What is something nobody knows about you?

A lot of people don’t know I had to get staples put into my head when I was 8 years old because my sister accidentally pushed me into the corner of a wall.

If you were trapped on a deserted island, what three things would you bring?

I would bring my phone, water, and my bed.

I will miss long lunch, and some teachers.

What is your funniest story at RMA?

Mr. Stone’s AP Psych class was always such a funny class.

What is one piece of advice you’d give to an incoming freshman?

I would say to study hard and get good grades. Get involved in high school, but have fun as well. Don’t worry about what other people think of you.

I would take Art again, because I love Mrs. Hunter and that class.
