Faculty Focus: April Livermon

Mary Kimbrell Livermon, Photographer

This faculty focus is on a very new,but very special, employee at RMA. I might be a little biased because this special employee happens to be my mom, April Livermon–Mrs. Livermon to the students who will see her around campus. After Mrs. Katherine Bryant  took on the job of athletic director, Mrs. Livermon was hired as the new Development Coordinator. Although she is new to the RMA staff, she is very familiar with our school . She has been a parent to a student at RMA for 19 years, as my brother started RMA in first grade in 2003, and I am a senior this year, in 2022. (Wow, that’s a long time!) Her familiarity with RMA is helping her ease into her new responsibilities since she is already familiar with the school as a whole.

Even though this particular job is new to her, she is not a stranger to raising money for the school. Mrs. Livermon has chaired the annual auction twice, most recently in 2021. Even despite grieving the recent loss of a family member just a week before the auction, she raised the most money the auction has ever raised! With help from Mrs. Bryant, , Mrs. Livermon  was able to learn all about her new responsibilities as the Director of Development.  I am extremely proud of her work ethic and her determination to excel in every task she takes on. I am sure her determination and work ethic will translate into great success in her new job at RMA.

Mrs. Livermon is originally from Kinston, North Carolina, and she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Psychology degree. After college, she worked in customer service at a bank but then moved on to working in admission and social work at a geriatric facility. She worked there many years but moved to Rocky Mount when she married my dad, Charlie Livermon. She then started her own embroidery business, Naming By a Thread, which she retired from after 14 years.

We welcome Mrs. Livermon with open arms into our RMA community, and we wish her the best in years to come!
