This week’s Senior Spotlight focuses on someone loved by everyone: Marin Rommel. Marin joined Rocky Mount Academy when she was in 1st grade and has been a part of the Class of 2017’s family ever since. Because of her genuine personality, Marin’s candid humor is always well received. When asked about her, classmate and friend Rob Turnage said, “You will not find a single person with a negative thing to say about Marin. I love her.” Anyone that has met her knows this is true. In addition to her magnetically lovable character, Marin is notorious for her witty humor and will have you fighting a smile on what you thought was your worst day.

Since arriving at RMA in 2005, Marin has thrived in every sense of the word. Academically, Marin has risen to the occasion and tackled challenging courses year after year. She always makes a wholesome effort to do her best, even with goals that she is hesitant to take on. After all of her hard work, Marin was inducted into the National Honor Society in 11th grade. As for her extra-curricular career, Marin has been a member of the Academy Rescue Foundation since 11th grade. As everyone knows, Marin is a major dog-lover. Her love for animals is just another testimony to the kind and accepting heart that she has. Marin also joined Debate Club in her junior year where she balanced on the tightrope between voicing her opinion and embracing other viewpoints. While it is evident that RMA has made a positive impact on her, Marin has also left her own mark on the school.

All in all, it is a sure fact that Marin’s warm personality will be missed on RMA’s campus and the campuses on which her classmates find their future homes. When asked about Marin, classmate Neha Baliga said, “Marin is genuinely one of my favorite people. She has a kind heart and always makes everyone around her laugh, smile, and have a good time! Also, even though she hates to admit it, she has the best eyelashes (don’t kill me)!” Marin’s caring disposition is one I will miss deeply and I know everyone in the senior class will readily admit the same.
