RMA Pays Tribute to Veterans

On Friday November 11th at Rocky Mount Academy, a Veterans Day celebration was held. Many veterans who were family members and friends of students at RMA, joined the whole school in the courtyard to be honored at 10:00. The celebration began with the introduction and recognition of all of the guests. The fifth grade class was excited that it was finally their turn to raise the flags at the ceremony as it was something they had always looked forward to. Also, the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by all in attendance and the National Anthem sung by four chorus members. There was a very inspiring speaker who was a veteran who was enjoyed by all. Next, the tradition of the middle school essays continued with phenomenal essays written and read by 6th grader Kent Brantley, 7th grader Davis Epps and 8th grader Bayden Collins. After the essays were read, the Middle and Upper School Chorus performed Salute to the Armed Forces which is a medley of all of the branches songs such as Anchors Away (Navy) and The Army Goes Rolling Along.

The ceremony was a huge success in honoring our Veterans and all that they have done and continue to do keep our country safe and keep us free. Never forget to thank your Veterans.
