Everyone knows Mrs. Helms for her great math teaching skills, interactive math songs, and friendly personality, but what most people do not know is that she can make a fantastic sweet treat. This special snack is her famous white chocolate popcorn. Five years ago, Mrs. Helms started making the popcorn for her students as a substitute for candy. Mrs. Helms’ treat is a class favorite, and something all her students look forward to on special occasions. The sweetness and saltiness, along with the crunchiness of her delicious white chocolate popcorn, is better than any candy, and it never disappoints. Her popcorn leaves students begging for more. Mrs. Helms was kind enough to share her secret recipe with the Rocky Mount Academy family.
12 ounces of white chocolate
8 cups of popped popcorn
½ tsp of salt
wax paper, parchment paper, or aluminum foil
Heat white chocolate in the microwave or in a double boiler until fully melted.
Place the popped popcorn in a large bowl, and pour the melted white chocolate over it.
Take a spoon, and gently toss the popcorn and white chocolate together until the popcorn is evenly coated with white chocolate.
Evenly spread the popcorn out on a baking sheet covered with wax paper, parchment paper, or aluminum foil.
Evenly sprinkle white chocolate popcorn with salt, sprinkles, and any other sweet candies, such as M&Ms.
Let the popcorn cool for around 10 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened.
Separate and break the white chocolate popcorn into small pieces.
Serve or store popcorn in a sealed container for up to one week.
