Top+10+Things+you+didnt+know+About+the+Media+Office
  1. We are self-funded

That’s right. The Media Office buys all of our own equipment, supplies, and software. We have many means of acquiring funding, mainly through DVD and bake sales. Being self-funded is no easy task but gives the team a goal to work towards. At the end of the day it is very rewarding.

  1. Members must be accepted after an application process

The Eagle Examiner picks 4-5 sophomores before their junior years to become a part of the media office. These sophomores must complete the application process and be chosen out of all the applicants. Applications come out within the next few weeks, in fact. They include sample articles, short answer questions, and recommendation letters. The current media staff creates the applications and reviews the applicants. We look forward to looking at this year’s applications soon!

  1. We have advisers

Mrs. Gross and Mrs. Bryant are our wonderful advisers. They approve every article that goes onto our website and act as a liaison between the faculty and the Media Office. From giving us article ideas to taking pictures, they are here for us. If we are lucky, they will sometimes bring us candy. They are assets to the team.

  1. We are open for article suggestions and pictures

We love when readers send us any pictures and ideas for articles or quizzes. It is key to learn what our readers want to be informed about. We attempt to do this day in and day out. Even if you have a question, feel free to email us at [email protected]

  1. We have hours

There is an open and closed sign on our door to keep the people in the loop about when we are and are not in the office. Our hours can often be sporadic but for the most part we are in the office from 12:30-1:30. In B period, our Secretary, Lindsey, can be found in the room as well. Most weekends, we take our work home with us but occasionally we can be found in the Media Office working extra hours.

  1. We have a dress for sale

We are currently selling a golden dress that is a small (which may or may not belong to Lindsey Ross). To help suffice our funds, we are forced to sell clothing in order to keep the Media Office running. This dress shimmers in any setting. Size Small. Dry Clean only. Please stop by if interested. The sale is subject to change.

  1. Brendan and Thomas have a master plan to expand the Media Office

The Treasurer and Business Manager have a top secret plan to keep the office running for generations to come. Not much information is known by the public about this plan, but someday it will be in effect.

  1. There are 32 outlets in our room

There are quite a lot of outlets in our office. This helps to keep all of our cutting-EDGE (pun intended)  technology powered and running. Next time you swing by count and see if you get 32… There could even be more.

  1. We run the social media accounts/ produce yearly promotional videos

While our day-to-day duty is writing, editing, and posting articles for the Eagle Examiner, We are behind the Twitter and Instagram accounts as well as the new RMA Snapchat geotag! We get many great suggestions from our peers for new “#facesofRMA ideas”. As a part of our mission statement, we also film, edit, and produce a promotional video annually to show to prospective students and families. We love utilizing our technology assets to be able to capture life at RMA as it really is.

  1. We often call former Media Office members Claire Stanovich and Colby Kirkpatrick for advice

These two notable alumni are still involved in our articles and productions. Since they were a part of the founding Media Office class, they want to make sure it is thriving without them. These two can often expect a call or text along the lines of “How do you do (insert any issue)?” from Olivia when a problem arises that only the original Editor-in-chief and Photographer could answer. When in town, they stop in to check on us to make sure their pride and joy that is the Media Office is still running smoothly. Colby and Claire… we know you are reading this and we thank you.
