Haunted Hollywood Homecoming

Julia High, Social Media Chair

Last Friday the 14th was very eventful day at RMA. From the pep rally to the football game, the day was a non- stop rush of excitement. The pep rally came first with the entire student body filling into the gym dressed in their red, white, and blue. The cheerleaders opened the pep rally with a dance that they have been working very hard on. They left the crowd in awe with their performance. The girls will do the dance again at a competition in Wilson this weekend. Next, the SGA introduced all the fall athletic teams and led lower, middle, and upper schools in different competitions where each grade got several representatives to compete. The introduction of the homecoming court was next the representatives were: 9th graders, Ada Everette escorted by Tom Quain and Gabbi Stewart escorted by Caleb Chesis, 10th graders, Isabel Smith escorted by Jack Wu and Caroline Gay escorted by Jack Boucher, 11th graders, Madison Glover escorted by Bailey Beddingfield and Bhavisha Gulabrai escorted by Thomas Griffen, and 12th graders, Connor Daughtridge escorted by Rob Turnage, Julia High escorted by Reid Johnston, and Bridget Ward escorted by Thomas Moore. Rob Turnage was crowned Homecoming King! The pep rally ended with a cheer sequence by the lower school cheerleaders.

Before the football game started, senior football players and cheerleaders were announced and escorted on the field by their parents for senior night. Senior football players include: Tyson Jones, Jared McCall, Paul King, Christopher Rabil, and Josh Legaj. Senior Cheerleaders are: Neha Baliga, Gracie Cox, Lindy Pittman, Bridget Ward, Maxwell Miller, Anna Scott Wingfield, Julia High, Suzanna Mosely, and Hannah Strickland. The first half of the game started shortly after the presentation. After the 1st half, the score of the game was 6-36 South Hampton. The Raiders were big, fast, and breaking through RMA defense with ease. At halftime, the girl representatives of homecoming court were escorted on the field by their fathers and Julia High was named 2016 Homecoming Queen. The second half of the football game did not go much better than the first for the Eagles. Although the final score was not what the team and school had hoped for, spirit week, homecoming, senior night, and all the other festivities of the week were a huge success! The week was concluded with the homecoming dance for upper school students Saturday night. The dance had a great turn out and was a lot of fun for everyone.
